TRAVELLING
“I’ve just finished a first week of work around Travelling, a project that I’ve wanted to concretise for several years.
In 2001, during the creation of Casse-Noisette (Nut Cracker) for the Ballet de l’Opéra national of Lyon, I achieved a ‘travelling’ by installing a miniature camera on an electric train which circulated in a set consisting of toys.
The close capture from the ground, brushing past objects, and the disproportion which resulted made me want to re-use this process to film a dancer and thus create a piece or choreography and images that would be tightly connected.

Approaching the body and movement from a particular angle of view, transforming them into a landscape, playing on the detail to discover the poetry or the crudeness within; advancing step by step, strolling around an arm, stopping off in the palm of a hand, making a face dance…”
